Welcome to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Band Family. The Eagle Regiment Band is the largest organization at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and attracts some of the most talented and active students in the school. Band and Guard members are involved in numerous clubs and service organizations on campus as class officers, National Honor Society members, Academic Honor Students, Mu Alpha Theta members, State representatives, peer counselors and athletic team members. When you join the band at Douglas, you become a member of a very special organization that derives its strength from its diverse and active membership.
The Band and Guard have established a trend toward excellence in performance. The Band has received numerous awards and accolades at the Florida Bandmasters Association Marching, Concert Band, and Jazz Band Evaluation Festivals the past 15 years. The Winter Guard is ranked nationally. In addition to ensemble success, members of the Stoneman Douglas Band distinguish themselves through individual efforts in All-County, All-State, Solo and Ensemble Festival and other Honor Band activities.
Nationally, the band has marched in the Orlando and Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parades, performed for the Home Opener of the Florida Marlins, been selected Concert Band Grand Champions at the 1995 Peach Bowl Festival, won 1st Place in the Peach Bowl parade, performed in the largest mass band in the history of Bowl games at the Peach Bowl, and performed in the 1998 Fiesta Bowl Parade and National Marching Band Competition, marched at the Governor’s Inaugural Parade, and had the honor to represent Four States in the 1999 Tournament of Roses Parade.
Participation in band is so much more than performance preparation; it reinforces the importance of self-discipline as the fundamental of healthy self-esteem, group pride, personal satisfaction, and aesthetic joy.
Being in the band is teaching members how to master the circumstances of life by putting ambition and skill into action. All you need is a winning attitude and the commitment to try your hardest.
